Thigh Lift

Reshaping and tightening the inner thighs

A thigh lift is designed to remove excess skin and reshape the inner thigh when skin laxity cannot be adequately addressed with liposuction alone.

The procedure can be combined with thigh liposculpture when excess fat is also contributing to the contour.

The surgical plan is customized according to your anatomy, skin quality, degree of laxity and aesthetic goals.

A thigh lift addresses excess skin and soft-tissue laxity of the inner thigh by repositioning and removing selected tissue to create a smoother, firmer contour.

Liposuction alone can reduce excess fat beneath the skin, but it does not remove significant excess skin or provide the same degree of skin tightening.

A thigh lift may therefore be appropriate for patients who have:

  • Significant weight loss with residual skin excess
  • Loose or sagging inner-thigh skin
  • Skin laxity that cannot be corrected with liposuction alone
  • Excess skin following previous aggressive liposuction
  • A combination of excess fat and skin requiring both liposuction and lifting

The extent of the lift depends on the individual anatomy and amount of excess skin.

Every thigh lift is customized.

During your consultation, I assess the skin, soft tissues, proportions and degree of laxity to determine the most appropriate technique and incision pattern for you.

Patients who are undergoing significant weight loss should ideally be close to their target weight before surgery.

For more predictable long-term results, your weight should also be relatively stable after surgery.

Your consultation includes:

  • Detailed medical history
  • Complete physical examination
  • Assessment of skin quality and laxity
  • Evaluation of fat distribution
  • Assessment of your overall body proportions
  • Discussion of your aesthetic goals and expectations

Your general health, smoking status, weight and individual anatomy are all considered when determining whether surgery is appropriate.

Smoking & Nicotine

Smoking and nicotine use significantly increase the risk of wound-healing complications.

You will receive specific instructions regarding smoking and nicotine cessation before surgery based on your individual history.

Medications

You will also receive a personalized list of medications, supplements and other substances that may need to be avoided before surgery to reduce the risk of bleeding or other complications.

Your preparation is an important part of achieving a safe recovery and optimal result.

Before surgery, I carefully mark the thighs while you are standing to determine the ideal position and extent of the incision.

The incision is designed to be placed as discreetly as possible, with the upper portion concealed within the natural groin crease. Depending on the amount and distribution of excess skin, the incision may extend vertically along the inner thigh.

Customized Tissue Removal

If liposuction is indicated, it may be performed first to reduce excess fat and refine the contour.

The tissues are then carefully elevated and the amount of skin to be removed is precisely determined.

I compare both thighs throughout the procedure to achieve the greatest possible degree of symmetry while preserving appropriate tissue support.

The skin is then tailored and closed carefully to create:

  • A smooth thigh contour
  • Minimal bunching
  • Smooth transitions
  • A carefully positioned scar
  • Improved symmetry

The exact technique and incision length depend on your anatomy and the amount of skin excess.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.

Immediately after surgery, the thighs may feel tight and swollen. Swelling and temporary changes in sensation are expected during the early recovery period.

Most patients can gradually return to normal daily activities as healing progresses, but recovery varies according to the extent of surgery and whether liposuction or additional procedures are performed.

Early Recovery

  • Swelling and tightness gradually improve
  • Walking is encouraged according to your postoperative instructions
  • A compression garment may be recommended
  • Wound and scar care begin according to your individual healing

Returning To Daily Life

Most patients require approximately 2 weeks away from work, depending on the nature of their work and the extent of surgery.

Strenuous exercise is generally postponed until adequate healing has occurred and you have been cleared to resume it.

Scar Maturation

Thigh-lift scars continue to mature and fade over many months.

I will provide you with a personalized scar-care plan and guide you throughout the healing process.

A thigh lift can help create:

  • A smoother inner-thigh contour
  • Reduced excess skin
  • Improved thigh proportions
  • Better definition of the inner thigh
  • Greater comfort where excess tissue causes rubbing
  • Improved fit of clothing

The extent of improvement depends on your starting anatomy, skin quality and the amount of tissue that can safely be removed.

The goal is not simply to remove skin.

It is to reshape the thigh while creating a balanced contour and a discreet, carefully planned scar.
