A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) combines strategic liposculpture with fat transfer to reshape the body and enhance the proportions of the buttocks and hips.
Fat is carefully harvested from areas where it is unwanted — such as the abdomen, waist, back and thighs — and selectively transferred to the buttocks and hips to create improved shape, contour and proportion.
The goal is not simply to make the buttocks larger. It is to create a balanced, feminine silhouette by sculpting the surrounding body and enhancing the areas that need volume

A BBL is essentially a combination of two procedures:
Liposculpture — removing unwanted fat from selected areas of the body.Fat transfer — processing and strategically transferring the patient’s own fat to the buttocks and hips.
I most commonly combine BBL with 360° liposculpture, because the shape of the buttocks cannot be considered independently from the waist, back, abdomen and hips.
By sculpting the waist and surrounding areas and then selectively adding volume to the buttocks and hips, we can create a more defined waist-to-hip ratio and a smoother transition between the different areas of the body.
I often explain this to my patients by asking them to imagine that their body is made of clay.
Liposculpture removes and reshapes. Fat transfer adds and enhances.
The objective is to sculpt the entire silhouette rather than simply add volume to one area.
What Can Be Improved?
Depending on your anatomy and goals, a BBL can help:
Not every patient requires the same amount of liposuction or fat transfer. The procedure is completely individualized.
A BBL is a body-contouring procedure, not a weight-loss procedure.
At your consultation, I will evaluate your anatomy, skin quality, existing fat distribution and the proportions of your body.
You need to have an adequate amount of suitable donor fat for transfer. However, the amount of fat available does not determine the result on its own. Where the fat is removed and where it is placed are equally important.
We will discuss the areas that can be sculpted, the amount of volume that can reasonably be transferred and the shape you would like to achieve.
I also encourage patients to bring reference photographs if there is a particular shape they like. These photographs help us understand your aesthetic preferences, but I will always explain what is realistically achievable based on your own anatomy.
Safety Is A Priority
BBL requires meticulous technique and careful attention to safety.
Fat transfer to the buttocks must be performed using an appropriate technique designed to minimize the risk of serious complications. Fat placement is carefully controlled and performed in the safe anatomical plane, avoiding injection into the deeper muscle.
I believe that a beautiful result is only a good result when it is achieved safely.
If you are actively losing weight, it is generally preferable to be close to your goal weight before surgery.
Significant weight changes after surgery can alter both the liposculpted areas and the transferred fat.
However, the ideal weight is different for every patient. During your consultation, I will assess your body composition and help determine whether you are ready for surgery.
Good preparation is an important part of a safe procedure and smooth recovery.
Before surgery, my team will provide you with detailed instructions regarding medications, supplements, nutrition, smoking or nicotine cessation and your postoperative care.
You will need to:
Stop smoking and nicotine use.
Nicotine can significantly affect circulation and wound healing. The required period of cessation will be individualized according to your history.
Review all medications and supplements with us.
Certain medications and supplements may need to be discontinued before surgery. You will receive a specific list and instructions.
Maintain a stable weight.
Large changes in weight around the time of surgery can affect your result.
Prepare for your recovery.
You will need assistance during the first days after surgery and should arrange your home and work commitments in advance.
My team and I will guide you through every step of your preparation.
A BBL is performed under general anesthesia.
I begin by carefully marking the areas that will be sculpted and the areas where volume enhancement is desired.
Small, discreet access points are used for liposuction. I use a meticulous, multi-stage liposculpture technique to remove fat while preserving smooth transitions between the treated and untreated areas.
The harvested fat is then carefully processed before being transferred to the buttocks and hips.
The placement of the fat is planned according to your individual anatomy and desired shape, with particular attention to proportion, symmetry and smooth contour transitions.
I assess the body from multiple angles throughout the procedure rather than focusing on a single view.
For me, body sculpting is both a technical procedure and an exercise in three-dimensional proportion and artistry.
The duration varies depending on the number of areas being treated and the extent of liposculpture and fat transfer required.
When a BBL is combined with extensive 360° liposculpture, the procedure can take several hours.
I do not believe in rushing body-contouring surgery. Every area needs to be assessed carefully to achieve smooth, proportional and natural-looking transitions.
After surgery, it is normal to experience swelling, bruising, tightness and some discomfort in the treated areas.
The first night may be spent in a dedicated postoperative care facility with nursing support, depending on the extent of your surgery.
Your postoperative instructions will include specific positioning and activity restrictions designed to protect the transferred fat during the early healing period.
Protecting The Transferred Fat
You will need to avoid prolonged direct pressure on the buttocks during the initial recovery period.
When sitting is permitted, we will provide guidance on appropriate positioning and the use of a specialized BBL cushion to reduce pressure on the buttocks.
Compression garments will also be used to support the liposculpted areas and control swelling according to your individualized postoperative plan.
When Can I Return To Work?
Recovery varies according to the extent of surgery and the number of areas treated.
Many patients can return to work within approximately 1–2 weeks, depending on the nature of their work and how they are recovering.
More strenuous exercise and activities are gradually resumed according to your healing.
Swelling continues to improve over the following weeks and months, while the final contour becomes progressively more defined.
Transferred fat is living tissue. A proportion of the transferred fat will naturally be absorbed during the healing process, while the fat that successfully establishes a blood supply can provide long-term volume.
The final result therefore takes time to develop.
Maintaining a stable weight is important because significant weight gain or weight loss can affect the appearance of both the transferred and liposculpted areas.
BBL requires only small access points for liposuction and fat transfer.
I place these incisions as discreetly as possible, and they generally become increasingly inconspicuous as they mature.
Scar appearance varies from person to person. We will provide you with postoperative scar-care instructions and appropriate products to support scar maturation.
My goal is not to create an exaggerated or artificial-looking result.
I want the waist, back, hips and buttocks to flow together naturally.
The most beautiful result is often created by what we remove as much as by what we add.
A beautifully sculpted waist, smooth back and carefully enhanced buttocks can create a significant improvement in overall body proportion without making the result look disproportionate.
I also believe patients should have realistic expectations. Social media contains many digitally altered photographs and highly selected images that may not represent achievable surgical results.
Your result should be designed around your anatomy — not around an edited photograph.
My goal is to create a body that looks harmonious from every angle, with feminine curves and natural transitions that complement your individual proportions.
